I am artist based in mid-Wales and I am currently collaborating on a new website project THE DERNOL VALLEY: this will be focusing on the interesting palaeontology, geology, flora & fauna here. It will feature artworks, photography and information about the valley e.g. the Dernol river just opposite to where I live has SSSI status and over 170 species of moths have been recorded visiting my garden. I have already got a lot of artworks inspired by the valley and if you wish to see them and my other artworks please visit my website above.
I have undertaken many commissions over the years, for both individuals and commercial companies, producing surface-pattern designs for wraps, banners, paintings and an outdoor mosaic. I enjoy experimenting with different materials, both traditional and contemporary and have exhibited in many places including Christie’s Auction House, London, art centres & galleries. I have also exhibited and been an artist in residence ‘Nature in Art’ the International Centre for Wildlife Art in Twigworth near Gloucester.
Alongside developing my own work, I have been a mentor at various times and until 2016 a complementary education tutor for art, design and textiles for Powys County Council. As a workshop leader I have worked for many organisations, including Oriel Davies Gallery, Arts Care, Celfogwmpas, Compton’s Yard Trust in Llanidloes, CARAD delivering arts & crafts workshops. I have been a manager for a ‘Youth in Action’ project that included organising workshops for producing public art in Llanidloes, mid-Wales. I collaborated with the Dragon Collective, that was a Wales-based music and arts organisation, on many projects since 1996.
