Culture Colony

Promotional video for The National Audit of Spaces for Art - N.A.S.A. Project 1 The National Audit of Spaces for Art in Wales (NASA Cymru) is a project initiated by Culture Colony - Y Wladfa Newydd to highlight the potential for existing spaces to accommodate art interventions. The first such space is the Old Tannery in Machynlleth and this promotional video shows the space and some of the shows that have taken place there so far, including a visit by Alun Ffred AM, the Minister for Heritage and Culture. The owners of the Old Tannery are MoMA Wales, Y Tabernacl, and they have generously allowed Culture Colony - Y Wladfa Newydd to run a program of events in the space for the whole of 2009. Artists and art groups with an interest in this space should get in touch as soon as possible as the diary is filling up. Featured in this video clip are the shows 'What's Going On Next Door?' a group exhibition curated by Pete Telfer to coincide with the first Culture Colony - Y Wladfa Newydd conference, 'Catalyst' a group exhibition bringing Blaengar and Framework together under one crumbling roof and 'Obnoxious Processes' a solo show by Paul Woodland that took the history of the building itself as part of the main theme. More videos and information about each show will be available soon at www.culturecolony.com . NASA Project 2 will also be under way soon at the next location to be liberated for art.
