This film of the music duo 'Ember' is a magical Super 8 experience by film maker Giles Thaxton of the song 'Storm'.

Since a chance meeting in a hostel in Barcelona in 2000, the unique acoustic magic of Ember has delighted audiences all over the world – from California to Mexico, Ireland to Spain. Now based in Wales, where they have recorded all four of their albums, Ember has recently caused a stir at Broadstairs, Priddy, Glastonbury, Llangollen Fringe, Big Green Gathering, Warwick, Otley, Fishguard Folk Festival and Sesiwn Fawr, amongst other festivals, as well as folk clubs all over the UK.

Engaging and humorous performers, Emily and Rebecca build a natural repartee with the audience - in true troubadour style. Hecklers are always welcome!

Available as a duo or trio, Ember can also offer inspiring songwriting workshops.

Film maker Giles Thaxton revives Super 8 film and uses the medium superbly. In this film Giles also achieves lip sync, a near impossible feat but a beautiful result. You can also see another film by Giles on the Culture Colony - Y Wladfa Newydd web site, it's an untitled film that pushes the medium of Super 8 film up to another creative level. In that film a man in a boat meets another man and a steam train passes in black and white. It is story telling at its best - there is no real narrative, it has a surreal sense of time and place and yet there seems to be a universal understanding that makes this film recognisable and familiar although at the end you don't actually know what has just happened. Click here for this film.

These two films demonstrate great film making talent and we at Culture Colony - Y Wladfa Newydd look forward to more films from Giles Thaxton.
