Catrin Finch opens Culture Colony - Y Wladfa Newydd's new office
23rd May 2009
On May the 21st Culture Colony - Y Wladfa Newydd moved into it's new office - Creative Unit 08 at Aberystwyth Arts Centre. The office was officially opened by harpist Catrin Finch symbolically cutting through video tape rather than ribbon. The opening was also attended by Alun Ffred AM, the Minister for Heritage and Culture, and Nick Capaldi the Chief Executive of the Arts Council of Wales.
Good Cop Bad Cop performed 'Hanner Call' on the roof of the futuristic new building as Catrin Finch played electric harp inside. Also on display were artworks by Luned Rhys Pari, Bedwyr Williams, Meic Watts, Marged Pendrell and at the desks, as if operating the computers, were the large ceramic figures by Meri Wells.
A pleasant afternoon in the sunshine with cups of tea and Mrs. Telfers delicious cakes! A real cultural melting pot and a sign of great things to come.
