The Art of getting it right...
Interpreting countryside sites through installation art
An event organised by Interpret Wales ~ Dehongli Cymru with support from AHI
Creu-ad are working with Dehongli Cymru~ Interpret Wales and AHI (Association of Heritage Interpretation) to deliver the above event. Other contributors include the Forestry Commission Wales, the Countryside Council for Wales and Safle (www.safle.com).

Dates: 16th June (12pm start) – 17th June (until lunch at 1pm)
Venue: Plas Tan Y Bwlch, Maentwrog, Gwynedd
Fieldwork at Coed Y Brenin Forest Park
The event aims to:
• Introduce the new Forestry Commission Toolkit for using art in forest interpretation
• Offer an opportunity to learn about writing briefs and contracts for artists when using installation art
as interpretation
• Provide interaction between all those involved in this process
The event will include opportunities to:
• Discuss examples of interpretive installation art of varying scale and character
• Learn how to write a brief for an interpretive art installation project
• Work through the issues connected with contracts and copyright
• Understand the role, relationship and respective requirements of artists and clients
• How to use the toolkit
The event is for:
• People who are likely to commission interpretive installation art
• Professional Interpreters
• Artists who are interested in interpretation
The event will provide you with:
• An introduction to using installation art
• Help in writing better briefs/commissions for installation art
• The tools for more efficient work between interpreters and artists in order to achieve interpretive
objectives
Definition: For the purpose of this event, the phrase ‘installation art’ means artwork that is designed to interpret the particular site in which it is placed and which is intended to last for a period of ten years or more.
