Third Floor Gallery are back with a new exhibition of work by Polish photographer Mateusz Sarello

Swell is the story of a break-up and of unaccepted loneliness. It was to be a documentary project about the Baltic Sea. After extensive research a plan of locations to be visited were marked on the map. Mateusz Sarello was accompanied by his girlfriend on these photographic trips to the Baltic.

Everything changed when they broke up and Sarello abandoned his documentary project. After some serious soul-searching he retraced his steps to the places where they were together. Here the documentary project ends, and a personal story begins.

His photographs are split into Before and After, depicting the transition and contrasting styles that the loss of his lover led him to.

On the 8th of November 2014, Sarello will be opening the exhibition with a talk about the work and signing his book Swell (published by the Instytut Kultury Wizualnej in Warsaw).

Swell runs at Third Floor Gallery from 9 November 2014 14 December 2014 Opening night + Talk Saturday 8 November 2014 from 6.30 pm
