Avtarjeet Dhanjal

In the year of Avtarjeet Dhanjal's 75th year, Butetown History & Arts Centre present a selection of photographs and drawings, from an artist who has been exhibiting in the UK and internationally for over four decades.

Dhanjal achieved acclaim as an environmental sculptor working with stone and aluminium, and his recent work has increasingly employed drawing, photography and installation. The exhibition and artist talk formally launch at thenew Diversity Gallery on Sunday 19 April.

"Dhanjal seeks to produce art that enhances the quality of human life in part by inviting silence, stillness, contemplation. In this exhibition, in celebration of the artist s 75th birthday, the artworks reverberate with this conception of Silence. The creative expression of an artist who has found his own peace, they encourage us to see, feel and consider Silence and Light."
